Following JK Rowling’s novels, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone follows 11 year old Harry Potter as he discovers his magical origins while making new friends as well as powerful enemies. The franchise kicks off well, introducing all the main characters, the overall message of the franchise and connects you to Harry’s journey well.
A film that relishes in it’s own innocence, Harry is not short of experience hardships. With a tragic Chosen One origin and an equally tragic upbringing with aunt and uncle, it was clear that Harry was destined for greatness. As he discovers his true past and his own destiny in the Wizard World, the film really takes off.
Harry is surrounded by his best friends, Ron and Heromoine. All three played by child actors who are just starting to be acclimated to eventual iconic roles. Backed by a seller cast of teachers and a beautiful score by John Williams, the film shines.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is an enjoyable and joyful film. Brought to life with mostly good acting, a stellar score and the seeds of a great story to come, the film was a great start to an iconic franchise.
