Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a worthy edition to the Harry Potter franchise.
Another joyful, funny and whimsical adventure for Harry Potter and his friends, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets builds a layer upon
the Sorcerers’ Stone as the film uncovers new lore for the franchise while evolving current characters and raising the stakes with better villains.
The film does not take many chances with the source material and plays it mostly safe throughout. With a relatively shorter run time and a pace that goes faster and smoother than it’s predecessor, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets wants to be just as familiar to the first film which worked well but leaves a bit lacking in terms of fleshing out plot points.
Chris Columbu returns to helm the sequel and much of his directing style shines through with impressive visuals for it’s time. The cast all return for this film and the chemistry built in the first installment bodes well here as the chemist between Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Grange is built well.
Overall, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a solid addition to the franchise and brings the franchise to a point where it can successfully flourish and evolve.
