The Marvel Experience @ MCM London Comic Con October ’17

MCM London Comic Con is here again for a second time this year, with another weekend of geeky fun to offer for fans or just have a great time with the family.

When it was announced that Marvel would be participating in October’s MCM London Comic Con, people were equally excited and skeptical about it because nothing much was announced on the same day. However, guests and other activities were slowly announced approaching the Comic Con weekend as the enthusiasm grew. When they released the map plan for the convention and a huge chunk of red that took up to at least 1/6th of the convention floor was labelled “Marvel”, it was a given then Marvel would have something good in store for the con-goers.

Here are the highlights and my personal favourites from The Marvel Experience @ MCM London Comic Con:

Original Costumes from Thor : Ragnarok and Black Panther

Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther definitely has one of the most unique costume designs out of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was definitely a privilege to be able to see the original costumes up close in person. The best part of it is the costumes weren’t enclosed in a glass case hence visitors would be able to gawk at all the details in the costume without any hindrance. There were array of costumes on display, from Hela’s costume, which was my personal favourite from the trailers, to T’Challa’s suit.

Here are a glimpse at the costumes on display:

The Hulkbuster Experience

Ever wanted to go head to head with the Hulk? Although it was released two years ago for Avengers : Age of Ultron, visitors in London would once again be able to try their hands on wearing the Hulkbuster armour for a day.MCMLDN17_HulkbusterExpUsing the technology of AR combing with accurate Kinect controls, visitors are able to immerse themselves with different controls like shooting missiles from their hands and even a huge laser been from the chest. Seeing children trying the experience out and the look on their faces could definitely make any fans’ day.

Funko

Marvel has teamed up with Funko to bring two new exclusives to October’s MCM London Comic Con, straight from New York Comic Con. Fans in London was able to get their hands on the NYCC Casual Hulk Pop! Figure from the upcoming movie Thor: Ragnarok and the NYCC Old Man Logan Pop!, which is something appealing to not only classic comic fans, but fans of the recent movie adaptation.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2

MCMLDN17_LegoLego Marvel Superheroes 2 picks up where the first game left of, with an all new character roster. Details of this game has been released during New York Comic Con but it was a delight to be able to get first hands on the game and give it a run-through.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will be available starting November 14, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with a Nintendo Switch edition arriving later in the year.

Hayley Atwell

MCMLDN17_HayleyAtwellThere are a couple of actors that Marvel has brought from their cinematic universe, and one of them was Peggy Carter herself, Hayley Atwell. Atwell was definitely the highlight for MCM London’s Comic Con. as the crowd was huge at her MYM Buzz Panel with a couple of really good Peggy Carter cosplays which she so kindly pointed out from the stage. She talked about her experience auditioning for Peggy Carter and how grateful she is to be allowed to play a role that is an inspiration and role model to people. She also mentioned that her chemistry with James D’arcy (who plays Jarvis) is the main pillar in Agent Carter and has praises for him.

Christopher Robin, which is Atwell’s next movie, gets a mention at her panel. In the movie she plays Evelyn, Robin’s wife. The movie will open in autumn next year.

Anthony Mackie

MCMLDN17_AnthonyMackieAnthony Mackie, who plays Falcon, is another featured guest at MCM London Comic Con. In his MYM Buzz Panel, he talks about hanging out with the Avengers cast, and how the cut-the-check catchphrase came to be on-set. It means “I did a good job, pay me” after each successful take. “[The Russo’s] owes me a lot of checks dude.” he joked.

When asked about whether he reads comic books, he says that he bought all the Falcon comic books when he got cast, but quickly got bored of them. The host of the panel tries to pry information about the Avengers : Infinity War, but Mackie kept his mouth shut tight.

Right before the end of the panel, a group of well-dressed cosplayers are invited onto the stage for a quick photo session with the Falcon himself. The Avengers is literally assembled at MCM London Comic Con.MCMLDN17_AM_CosplayMarvel has certainly brought a whole lot in order to give fans the best experience at London Comic Con, covering all bases with the movies, comics and games. Being there only on the Saturday resulted not being able to meet Stefan Kapičić which was a bummer. Nevertheless, Marvel truly makes a part of a remarkable experience for my first ever Comic Con.
