#BoycottMulan was trending on Twitter following the release of the live-action film on the Disney+ streaming service. The end credits of the movie thanked the Chinese Communist Party and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Committee.
Disney’s 2020 adaptation of Mulan is under heavy backlash for filming parts of the film in China’s Xinjiang province, the region where alleged mass detentions, abuse on the basis of religion, and forced sterilization of the Muslim Uyghur population takes place. More than 1 million Chinese Uighur Muslims are being detained in government internment camps in the Xinjiang region, according to the U.N.
The Farooqi Bros react and explain the situation. #Mulan #SaveUyghur
